übersichtskarte Charkow-Batum 1940

This 1940 German Map of Ukraine and Northern Turkey covers a region of the Soviet Union from Charcow to Batum. The map details the area from 30 to 42 degrees longitude and 39 to 50 degrees latitude. The map has a great amount of terrain detail that includes hills, mountains, rivers and lakes. It also details major roadways, railroads, cities, towns and airports in the region. What is most notable is what is lacking on the map however, boundaries between Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine and Russia are completely missing. These national lines are simply not drawn on the map at all, treating the entire region as if it was solely the terrain of a single national entity.
