Worldly Treasures: A Fifth Anniversary Celebration

October 4, 1999 to March 25, 2000

This exhibition marks the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education. It contains a selection of cartographic treasures from the map library's collections. The definition of treasure is both literal (old and rare maps that are valuable collectors' items) and metaphorical (not-so-old and not-so-rare maps that are nonetheless valuable and significant historical resources). The result is an exhibition that displays the breadth of the holdings now preserved in the map library.
